Registered Clinical Counsellor
Aliya Senghera (She/Her)
My Approach
For the past ten years, I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside youth and families on their healing journeys. I believe meaningful change happens when we approach wellness through relationships—with ourselves, others, and the world around us. As a South Asian woman from a culture where counselling is often misunderstood or stigmatized, I understand how uncertain starting therapy can feel. I strive to create a space grounded in empathy, compassion, and curiosity—one that welcomes vulnerability and honours the courage it takes to begin. My work is trauma-responsive and attachment-based, often integrating nature-based practices that include rest, stillness, play, and tuning into the environment around us. These approaches support nervous system regulation and bring us back to what truly grounds us. I also specialize in working with athletes. As a former college athlete, I understand the unique pressures of high-performance settings. I support individuals in exploring their identity beyond sport, separating performance outcomes from their sense of self, and reconnecting with who they are at their core. At the heart of my work is a deep belief in the healing power of connection, authenticity, and cultivating a grounded sense of self.

Hi, I’m Aliya! My days often revolve around food—whether I’m cooking, discovering a new spot, or gathering people around the table. Food has always been a way for me to connect and bring people together. Sports are another big part of my life. After years as a young athlete, I still keep the spirit alive by cheering on my teams, coaching, and staying connected to the community. I also love being outdoors, finding hidden gems in nature, and staying active.
At the center of it all is my dog—my most important family member—because, truthfully, life runs on his schedule. What really fuels me, though, are the relationships that feel like family. Whether it’s traveling with loved ones, watching a game, sharing a meal, or walking our dogs, it’s those connections that give me energy and keep me grounded. And when I need to recharge solo, I find balance in rest and reflection—so I can return to the people (and pup) who mean the most to me. Oh, and if tacos are involved, I’m definitely in!
